White Tower

The White Tower is the city’s most famous landmark.  Built in the 16th century by Suleiman the Magnificent, it was used by the Turks to execute people and was known as the “tower of blood.”

The Roman Baths

The church of Ayios Dimitrios was built for the city’s Patron Saint around 313 A.D. on the ruins of Roman baths.

Palace of Galerius
The ruins left behind at the Palace of Galerius remain in the city’s modern Plateia Navarinou.  Some floor mosaics, columns and walls remain since Roman times.

Roman Forum and Theatre
Located in Platia Dikastirion the upper side of Aristotelous Square, the Roman Forum is the ancient Roman-era forum once known as the agora of the city. It was dug up by accident in the 1960s.
